 Lucca, A little smaller and certainly quieter than its more famous neighbour, Siena
Lucca is one of the prettiest fortified towns in Italy.
Lucca is also in a great position in Italy. To the northwest are the Apuan alps, where the best marble in the world is to be found, and to the north, the mountain villages of the Garfagnana are strung along the Serchio River Valley. Further north is the Lunigiana, another spectacularly beautiful landscape loaded with history.

 Hidden gems are tucked away around every corner. On each visit you will discover something new and exciting.

 Unlike many of the compelling hill towns of Tuscany, Lucca is almost completely flat.
No trudging up steep grades to enjoy this romantic city! Well, unless you climb the 230 steps up the Guinigi Tower to get to some fantastic views, that is. Like flat walks? Stroll on top of the famous ramparts. It is shaded, and you can even bicycle if you wish.
